Portuguese Wine
Portugal is undoubtedly world famous for it’s fortified Wines, namely Port and Madeira. However in recent years, Portugal ‘table’ wines are becoming increasingly more popular……
Portugal is split mainly into two halves……between the ‘Northern’ wine regions of ‘Douro’, ‘Dão’ and ‘Bairrada’ and the ‘Southern wine regions of ‘Alentejo’, ‘Ribatejo’ and ‘Estremadura’. The ‘Douro’ having established themselves as Portugal’s ‘premier’ wine region, their focus on higher quality and thus more expensive wines.
The ‘Southern’ regions tend to produce full flavour wines in large quantities and at more affordable prices!
The Ribatejo wine region of Portugal, stretches along the River Tagus from Lisbon to the Zêzere
