Caves in Portugal
The little town of Mire De Aire, right in the heart of Portugal is home to the largest Caves in Portugal and is only around 45mins from Casa Rosden.
Located Just 15 km from Fátima, the Caves at Mire de Aire Caves were awarded the status of ‘one of the 7 wonders of Portugal’ in 2010. These magnificant treasures of nature are over 11km in length and lay unknown for thousand of years until their discovery in 1947. Since the opening to the general public in 1974, millions of visitors have been able to admire some 600m of impressive stalactites, halls, rooms and limestone formations. A guide will take you down, some 110 metres below the earth, but it is not suitable for the less mobile as there are total of 363 steps down. The return the surface is by lift.
This is a ‘must do’ day out to add to your agenda and fun for all the family with the location of a Waterpark next to Caves.
