Buddha Eden
Buddha Eden - Garden of Peace
Just 10 minutes south of Óbidos, and less than 90mins from Casa Rosden, make time to visit the splendid 30 hectares of ‘Buddha Eden’, a beautiful garden of peace and tranquility, built around a man-made lake and set within the grounds of the famous Quinta dos Loridos wine estate in Bombarral. Budda Eden is surely the most unusual tourist attraction and tribute to Budda to be found anywhere in Portugal
The Garden which was constructed as a tribute to the Giant Buddhas of Bamiyan that were destoyed by the Taliban in Afganistan in 2001, is open to the public daily, Summertime from 10:00 to 19:00 and in the Winter from 09:00 to 18:00.
There is a huge car park and Entrance is just €2,50. Be sure to exchange your ticket for a complimentary bottle of wine as you leave ! There is a little tourist train that meanders around the grounds for a €3 fare… The restaurant is very good value serving snacks to full meals. Coffee and cake for 2 cost us just €4.
Be sure to take a sunhat and your camera. All in all a lovely day out!
